After created new OS, can't use external disc

My laptop now has 2 OS. Snow Leopard and recently installed Maverick. I have an external hardisk (A) (not using Time machine) for backup, but I have also another disc using TM for backup.

I have transfered some data fr old OS to Maverick using the external disc (A) a few days ago. Now facing a problem. I cannot transfer datas from Maverick to the external disc. It won't recognise "Paste", "drag" and I can't even create a new folder on the external disc.

Why is that so?
