After display changing phone not charging

Hello friends ,
My i phone 3g fell down and screen/display got cracked,still everything was working as usual.When i got the screen replaced with a new one from an i phone selling shop ,i noticed that the phone is not getting charged as well as not indicating charging/not charging.I refused to take back the phone saying that it happened when they changed the screen.i wanted to know from you experienced lot that am i right or not?Awaiting for your advice.
