e.g. would CS4, when rendering motion video, do better with giving it as much RAM as possible on a 2.9GHz dual core machine (e.g. 8GB)?

Or having a 2GB eight-core machine running 2.26GHz as going to 2.66GHz adds $1500 and would kill me? :D

Thx!

It is not an easy to answer question, so for now, I'd suggest the staying alive option, until you can't live with it anymore. :D

http://www.adobepress.com/articles/article.asp?p=1247538&seqNum=2 is a good place to start. See also http://eshop.macsales.com/NewsRoom/Framework.cfm?page=articles/article_bf_memtest.html for some relevant information.

Thanks much!

Looks like I will go for a 2.66GHz Quad core w/8GB. $800 for twice as many cores (and double the hyperthreading the single quad core offers) doesn't offer too much in return benefits...
