After Effects quits unexpectedly

I have CS4 on my 2.5 ghz MBP with Nvidia 8600M GT card. Everything has worked fine until recently. I try booting up After Effects and I get a message saying it has quit unexpectedly. I used Font Book to review my fonts and it found one 3rd party font I got from dafont.com that said it had a "critical error"...so I deleted it. Still no luck. I deleted my AE preference files, no luck with that. Does anybody have any idea what may be the culprit? Thanks.
