After iOS, whatsapp gets killed in background

Till yesterday night, even if the phone is locked, whatsapp web stays connected and works.

But after I upgraded to iOS10, after the phone gets locked the whatsapp web stops responding meaning getting disconnected from phone.

Then again when I unlock the phone and open the whatsapp, app, then again it reconnects.
