Hi, I hope someone can help me. I have a Mac Book Pro 15 inch, Catalina. I opened my laptop and there was a screen out of the blue with the question; if I want to help improve Siri. I choose the option “no”. But I noticed it was trying to install something. So I cut it off, turned the power off because nothing happened.

For the last 3 hours I have tried to turn my laptop on, its loading and takes me to the login screen. When I enter my password after a few seconds/minutes it works but then I get a black screen with an active cursor but nothing happens. I already tried the following:
- restarting in safe mode; nothing happens
- resetting PRAM: nothing happens
- power on + cmd+S; https://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/82502-mac-mac-boots-to-a-black-screen-with-cursor . I came here because I searched and found a possible solution I think.
But going through the steps I do get an error immediately at the first step: /sbin/fsck -fy
After typing I do get the following; “warning: option -f is not implemented, ignoring error etc.”

What to do? I am not tech-savy but with some help I think I can solve this problem. I hope someone can help me step by step to solve this issue. Thank you.

PS: another thing I saw in the file after I pressed power on +cmd+S: “enabling and disabling services is not supported in single user mode......”, but I have really no idea what it means And if this has anything to do with my problem. Thanks for now

Have you run the diagnostics test?

I followed the steps from the link in my earlier message. Although I got the message “warning option -f is not supported... etc. I went on with the steps in the link in my previous message. Nothing really happened and I closed my laptop. Next morning I started it with shift power on. And finally I got in safe boot and could get into my account. I tried to get out of safe boot but got stuck in a loop. I installed mac os Catalina again and that got me out of the safe boot. Nothing else worked.
In the meantime I contacted Apple support because from the start of this automatic upgrade + Siri issue my laptop slowed down enormously. We went through many steps but nothing happened. Everything is ok but it is so slow it is not normal. Apple suggested to remove my hard disc and install a new one. I am not eager to do this but I have no other choice.

But I will first try to change my keyboard because every time before login (for the first time)I see a keyboard icon in the right corner and a US icon which I never had before. So basically I went from one problem to another.........

If anyone recognize this problem.......please help Is appreciated. Thanks.

You have a spinning hard drive? If so, I'd try replacing it with an SSD. Pretty cheap these days. If your keyboard is working, I doubt replacing it will help.
