So you had Lion before? Did you install the firmware then?

I just got this laptop 1 1/2 week ago, it came with lion 10.7.3. I did everything that i could do:

- Ran disk utility.
- Ran NVRAM PRAM resets.
- Shut down/Restart.
- Restart from Startup Disk.

Then I googled solutions more so i went for the whole clean reinstall method. Still doesn't work. When I setup my laptop allover again, I went to software update right away before doing anything all there was to update was the Airport Utility 6.0 and iTunes 10.5.3. Other than that it hasn't prompt the firmware 2.7. My current firmware is 1.68. I don't know whats going on anymore but I'm not going to fret over it anymore. If it comes it'll come I guess. But It'd be nice to have other possible solutions.

if it helps , my laptop model is: Model Identifier: MacBookPro8,1

Are you sure you need an EFI update? Perhaps being so new it already has it installed?

I am pretty sure it is the Boot ROM Version: MBP81.0047.B27 for the update

Not the SMC Version (system): 1.69f3

Start a thread, asking for peoples 13" MBP late Oct updated SMC version and Boot Rom version.

Maybe I guess. It says my machine doesn't support it when I attempt to download it.
