curvy-ness?

My favorite rumour in this regard is that Apple might introduce a few of the organic curves of the Air to the Pro line, but I really can't see how they can do it without increasing the footprint by at least an inch each way.

Why do you think external super drive?!?!?

Because it will free up space for more room to add more inside and for to have a second Hard Drive to double the space is a big thing for pros that need lots of storage for HD video. Also you be able to have a thinner case and more powerful Super drive maybe even a blue-ray drive....

They won't take the drive out of the MacBook Pro, that's just crazy talk, and defeats the purpose of the MacBook Pro. This isn't the Air, the MBP is designed to be a desktop replacement, not an ultra-portable. Taking the drive out of an ultra-portable makes sense, taking it out of a desktop replacment is just plain idiotic. I'd like to see a Blu-Ray option, but I'm not holding my breath, I think that'll be pushed into the Mac Pro and MBP starting in late 2008 or early 2009.

And they better get a magnetic latch on the MacBook Pro asap.

Hopefully apple will remove the sleep light, thats the ONE thing that made me actually shut down my MacBook Pro at night, i have since got a sleep-light-less iMac!!

as for the IR sensor, i really like your idea, that black dot on current models looks a little odd.

Love the sleep light on the Air....its so small and not so bright

2.6GHz - 2.8Ghz Core 2 Extreme: Im thinking more 2.5 - 2.8
2 - 4GB Memory: yes (but not 4gb standard)
500GB - 2x250GB HD: no, i think that maybe 320 max, problaby stay at 250gb
External Super Drive: no
Geforce 8800m GT
New Keyboard-keys illuminate brighter(like to see red illumination like in Audi s): red? hell no, it will stay white.
Brighter Screen: problaby LED across the board
Higher res iSight: maybe
Sata plug: maybe. prob not
HDMI output and Input lines - 1080p 24p support: no
IR reader in Black Apple: what?
Sleep light in front on right corner
(may not happen) - Option in Black or Silver: problaby not
I still like to see black iMac outline on MacBook pro
.75m thick: maybe, problaby not that thin. im going to go with the same 1" or maybe like .9"
6-7 hours battery life: HAHA no.
big multi touch pad: yes

things in bold are what i say

500GB - 2x250GB HD

Brighter Screen
Higher res iSight
Sata plug

IR reader in Black Apple
Sleep light in front on right corner
(may not happen) - Option in Black or Silver

.75m thick
6-7 hours battery life
big multi touch pad

The rest is plausible, but I just don't see the bolded as happening.

Alienware m15x's get about 1.5 hours battery life, and that's without gaming. Granted, that's with an 8800GTX, but still.

There's simply no way that Apple can get away with an external SuperDrive in the MBP. There's still too much reliance on optical formats to let that happen.

While red would be nice, I think it would be too "flashy" for the MBP, and detract from it's professional appeal. Colors like that are more suited towards Alienware laptops and the like.

6-7 would be nice, but unless there's a breakthrough in battery tech, I just can't see that. 5 hours now is pushing out, and Penryn isn't going to reduce power consumption by more than 10-15%. And I'd rather see that 10-15% to to powering more powerful hardware rather than 30 minutes of more battery.

All in all though, looks good.

2.6GHz - 2.8Ghz Core 2 Extreme = Probably
2 - 4GB Memory = probably
500GB - 2x250GB HD = wishful thinking, but no
External Super Drive = no
Geforce 8800m GT = probably, but maybe the new 9 series

New Keyboard-keys illuminate brighter = hope so(like to see red illumination like in Audi s) and no not red
Brighter Screen = likely
Higher res iSight = they should
Sata plug = whats to point
HDMI output and Input lines - 1080p 24p support = that would be nice
IR reader in Black Apple = that would be cool
Sleep light in front on right corner = why not

(may not happen) - Option in Black or Silver = that would be cool and a good refresh
I still like to see black iMac outline on MacBook pro
.75m thick = DEFINITELY NO I DONT WANT A LAPTOP THATS 29.5 INCHES THICK.
6-7 hours battery life = doubtful
big multi touch pad = highly likely

There won't be an 8800GT on the next MBP. Get it through your heads people. It's too hot and requires too much power. Heck, I'd love to be proven wrong... but it ain't happening.

All-black anodised aluminium please, with glossy black screen surround, providing a "one piece of glass" look like the iPhone/iMac ;)

I saw that on Engadget and think it looks really good. I hope this is close to what we'll see. Looks great.

i don't like the black screen bezel

Me neither. I love it on the iMac but not on this.

2.6GHz - 2.8Ghz Core 2 Extreme: 2.6 definitely, 2.8 possible
2 - 4GB Memory: 2GB standard, 4GB upgrade
500GB - 2x250GB HD: No, you can't fit 2 2.5'' drives in there.
External Super Drive: No, A full size laptop should have an optical drive
Geforce 8800m GT: Too much heat and power
New Keyboard-keys illuminate brighter(like to see red illumination like in Audi s): red? its not a dell
Brighter Screen: LED backlighting on the 17''. The LED screens are extremely bright.
Higher res iSight: the res is fine, how about better low-light performance
Sata plug: you mean eSATA.
HDMI output and Input lines - 1080p 24p support: Useless, DVI does HDMI.
IR reader in Black Apple: what?
Sleep light in front on right corner: who cares where the sleep light is
(may not happen) - Option in Black or Silver: no
I still like to see black iMac outline on MacBook pro: that's why you're just posting on a forum and not working for apple. that would be ugly as ****.
.75m thick: lol, that's thicker than a mac pro
6-7 hours battery life: hah, with 2 hard drives and an 8800mgt? rofl, you'd get like 90 minutes.
big multi touch pad: the touchpad might be a tad bit bigger, but it won't be huge like some of the mockups.

that pic is ugly. black border = terrible.

I have this cool new idea to take care of this problem. It's called closing your eyes when you go to sleep.

i just came back from the apple store and love the new MBA, the only thing i don't like is the button for the mouse click is way to tiny like height wise if that makes sence. But I could just enable the tap to click...
As far as the MBP just as long as the click button is bigger.... I want this update for me to be blown away.

edit - i'm surprised no one said this yet--- BLUE-RAY? no... please apple i would be over that before you could say "cat in the hat" (what movie is that from?)

I know this won't happen, but I wish Apple would give the option of removing the optical drive for a larger battery.

I also hate these trendy black screen borders. Just a cheap, ugly way to boost perceived screen contrast on the showroom floor. Not Apple's style (for the Pro line).

me too! I will cry like a schoolgirl if there is no Blu-Ray option :(

If Blu-Ray wasn't introduced last month to Apple's most expensive and powerful computer, I doubt they'd add it to the Macbook Pro. Plus, Apple wants you to rent movies from iTunes, not buy them from other companies. Then they don't get a cut of the profit.

i think it will get the magnetic latch to make for a flush close. also, it will get the MBA keyboard, like it or not. thats about it though, maybe slightly rounder edges. i dont really think it will get any thinner. its already pretty thinner than most of its competitors and making it thinner will make it harder put hugh end graphics and stuff in it.

I agree - it will not get thinner. The big marketing point of the Air is that it's thin. If you make the other Apple laptops approach that feature, it takes away from the Air.

I disagree about the magnetic latch though. The MBP lid is heavy.

The biggest marketing point of the Mac Pro is that it's extremely fast, yet some day the Macbook Pros will be able to reach the same speed. No matter how thin they make it anyway, it will still weigh a lot more because of all the components it has that the MBA doesn't. Mind you, I don't think it can get much smaller at this point in time anyway.

As far as the magnetic latch, it's coming. The screen isn't that heavy.
