Hi there - I have a MacBook pro running OS X version 10.8.5

Yesterday I noticed I had a prompt for a software update in my Applications icon (the white A in the blue circle).

So i did the update installation. but once completed I noticed i have lost my iTunes icon from the bottom menu bar that runs across the screen. and when I check my "music" folder in "Finder" it's not showing that I have any music files (I had about 6.5 days worth of music previously)

Help! does this mean i have lost all my music????! If I install iTunes again will my music magically re-appear??

I don't want to do anything at this point in case it's wrong and jeopardises me getting my music back.

Please help with any suggestions as to what I should do as I am starting to panic big time ...

thanks!

Hi,

the bottom menu bar is the "Dock".

Open your Applications folder, and drag iTunes to the Dock to get the icon back.

Then launch iTunes as usual.

Your music is there : Music folder / iTunes / iTunes Media / Music.
