I had the "staingate" fix done last week to repair my peeling anti glare screen (2014 MBP 15"). Does anyone have any insight as to what the replacement screen has that is different? Did they use a new coating?

I am nervous about this happening again, but this time being out of warranty. I typically put my laptop in my backpack "sleeve" but I don't want to screen coming into contact with the keys...

Thoughts?

Then... DON'T put the MacBook into a backpack that's going to result in pressure put upon it while inside. Perhaps that's what caused the problem in the first place.
Instead, carry it in its own case (WITHOUT any pressure on top and back).

DON'T touch the display at all. Pay particular attention to when you lift and close the lid.

DON'T use a cloth to "wipe" the display (by "wipe" I mean using any amount of pressure against the coated surface). Instead, just lightly "drag" a very soft cloth across the face of the display to brush away dust.

If you get something on the display, use a rag moistened with water to wipe it off as gently as possible.

There's no promise that a display that has been replaced (for StainGate) won't start experiencing problems again.
I sense that the fault lies in the design itself, which uses an extremely thin "coating" on the surface of the display to reduce glare, rather than a "harder" physical cover.
Looks great, but doesn't hold up as well "in the rough-and-tough real world outside"...
