After Tiger reinstall my password is not accepted

I reinstalled 10.4.

On restarting the computer (a G5) it asked for my name & password. It has never done that before.

But it WILL NOT accept my name & password.

BUT I am certain what the name & password are as I use the same ones on ALL my computers. Plus I have a backup HD and it has the same name & password.

So I restarted from the 10.4 install DVD and went to where one can change the password. Obviously I put in the same password that I have always used. I restarted. But the problem remains.

Anyone have any ideas?

2 things. I know you said you just reinstalled the OS. Try running the install disk again and go into Disk Utility to reset the master password. If that doesn't work I would zero-out the drive when formatting. Alas, I would wait for some other suggestions before doing what I said. Someone might know a quicker solution.
