This is not the same issue as described in other threads that recommend pressing CMD+R while restarting and resetting password via terminal.
I have a MacBook Pre Uni-body running OS X Lion. I performed an update, and after it restarted, it came to login screen but didn't have a spot for me to type in my user name, just a circle with the standard silhouette and Guest written under it, and a place to type in password.
No matter what password I type it won't let me login, and I don't see anywhere to change user from Guest, and no spot for me to type in User Name. I did try resetting the password of root, but even typing the new password wouldn't let me type in. Please help!
