I agree

My HomePod is connected to Apple TV..

Multiple times the connection will drop, causing the HomePod to stop playing, along with the Apple TV. Even weirder, in the Apple TV settings, the network says "no connection" but when I go to the control center of the Apple TV I see my network, and all streaming services are working (for the most part until the connections drop)

On 26.01.

Same issue here. 26.0.1 for both ATV and HomePod. FFS, Apple, the HomePod has been out since 2018. How the eff have they screwed up the software updates on it so many friggen times since. It’s just a speaker with Siri. One of their more basic devices.

couldnt pay me to update homepods and appletvs (and iphone for that matter) without a compelling reason, im waiting this one out as long as possible.

ive had my spare SE on 26 since dev beta and... yah... no thanks!

I noticed the no network message in settings, even though it shows I’m connected in the control center. I’m assuming it’s related to the ad hoc WiFi connection between the Apple TV and paired HomePods.

I see this happening with the Apple TV HD rather than the 4k version. Apple TV 4K has no problems.

Assuming you guys are talking about this: HomeKit commands no longer work via a HomePod regardless of whether it or the Apple TV is the Home hub? But works fine via iPhone, watch and iPad?

That’s the situation I am in running the latest betas on everything.

Care to elaborate?

Edit: I see what you mean. The only thing I can get mine to do is play random music by tapping the top. Any voice commands are screwed.
Same issue here. 26.1 beta 2. Voice commands do nothing. She just says, “on it.” “Still working” then fails with “I didn’t hear back.”

Was working fine after update but broke last night. Zero clue what broke.

Oh Apple. Unbelievable how poor their software is

I think the HomePod Siri issue is not beta related as I have a friend who is not on any beta, and has the same Siri problem. Siri on all my HomePods stopped working yesterday, and still not working at all

Jesus what did an intern trip over a network cable?!?

Thanks for the heads up. This is insane Apple is doing this bad.

Count me in as another one having Siri issues on my Gen 2 HomePods. Gen 1’s work fine. Stopped working yesterday not on Beta, but my phone and iPad are. Thought it could be related to that so upgraded them to the beta and still not working. Phones, watches and iPads all work too.

Ok, I guess I don’t understand how this works. I unplugged mine so they wouldn’t respond to commands. I saw Christian’s message so I plugged mine back in and it works. How is that possible? What changed and where?

looks to have been all server side, which i guess is better than having to wait for beta 3..

Totally agree

Came here to create a thread on the subject but nice to see its already been noted.

Its truly appalling this time since iOS26.

What I really can't understand is that it is ONLY HomePod related commands. I am now so fed up with issuing HomePod commands such as 'turn the lights on' or activating a scene and then it either saying 'on it' or 'something is taking too long' or worse still only half running the scene and leaving some accessories untouched...
.... that I now just resort to using Siri on the iPhone or Apple Watch as they seem far more reliable.

I dont understand how HomePods are so bad now although I suppose that a lot of stuff with the phone is done on device which might explain the disparity.

For anyone having issues with HomePods as default audio for an AppleTV (constant disconnects), try the new AirPlay device as default audio and select the HomePod(s) instead. Works much better this way. Apple likely broke something with default audio when they added this feature.
