Hi,
with the release of Ventura 13.1 I upgraded my M1Pro MBP from Monterey to Ventura. Now all my external drives (ssd/hdd) are not mounted anymore. All these drives worked fine with Monterey.
If I reboot for a certain time I can mount these drives again (I suspect until first sleep).
If a drive is not mounted it doesn’t show up in disk utility. External HDD don’t spin up.

Does anybody now a fix for this?

Well, it doesn’t seem to be a common issue…anyway I fixed it by doing this:
Rebooted the MBP while a external drive is connected. After login I got a prompt asking if I want to allow the drive to connect to Mac. Previously I never saw this message - which I suspect being the initial problem.
I don’t know why but now I see this prompt everytime I connect a drive - which is the expected behavior I guess?

I'm having a similar issue. My external drives are not automatically re-mounting on my MBP after being disconnected. I can go into Disk Utility or Terminal and manually mount them, but that sucks.

I can't even mount them in Disk Utility or Terminal. I get this:
Could not mount “VOLUME NAME”. (com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error 53249.)

I am sure you can change the default behavior in the System Settings.

That’s expected for any NEW disk you connect. If you’re seeing it after disconnecting & reconnecting an OLD disk, there may be a setting to stop that behavior.

I am also having external ssd issues with my brand new Mac Studio on Ventura. It seems very erratic with when the drives decide they want to mount and when they don't. Thse drives have no problem every time I plug them in to my old computer being mounted right away (OSx10.12). But they are very finnicky with this Ventura machine. Maybe it's something they will hopefully fix in an update patch.

Inglesworth, I am having the same issue. My Mac Studio upgraded to the latest 13.2 OS and immediately my external drives disappeared. It will not mount. If anyone reading this has found a solution, please let me know thanks,

Very same problem with my Mac Studio with recent upgrade to latest 13.3 OS X. I can no longer see any of my external drives. Help anyone out there? Thanks,
