seems simple enough, but i haven't been able to figure it out.

I am looking for a way to change the color of a word as i slide it from one side of the screen to the other.

I have the word slide behind a small image and when it comes out the other side i need it to be a new color, but the problem is i need the letters that are still trailing to still be the original color.

anyone know how i can do that?

just duplicate you text layer. Put the 2nd color (call it layer 2) under the first color (call it Layer 1).

Mask Layer 1 so it will only be on screen where you want to see the first color

Otherwise you can use the tint filter or other color filters and keyframe them but then you need to create expressions so that it doesn't all change at the same time. Much easier to go the the first suggestion

just wanted to let you know that using the mask with a second layer worked perfectly, thanks again
