Probably is, if you pull apart an OEM fan there'll be a original manufacturer like Delta Electronics or something, and for each fan size they make about 30 versions in different voltage and current ratings. Not the easiest thing in the world and any gains will be minimal at best, not to mention a higher current fan may create more problems or damage.
If its an old MBP you'll gain more by thoroughly cleaning out the heat sink, and if its new, you'll gain more with a thermal grease replacement. Or if its under warranty and overheating, I'd RMA it.
