I'm not really a huge gamer but was looking for a game or two. Been a long time since I've played games on my computer. Age of Empires 3 looks like something I would like. Strategy+thinking+real time gameplay. I noticed it's from 2005?? Won't the graphics be dated by now. It's 4 years old.

Any recommendations similar to AOE? Or are the graphics / gameplay still decent? I would like to showcase my mac with a good quality game.

I've got a 2.16 CD MBP 17 and will be picking up a base MBP13 tonight FYI.

Thanks - eV

Are there any similar games in the same genre? I'll take a look at Company of Heroes right now. Wow - It looks incredible. I'm a huge WW2 buff. Now is it real time and fast paced like COD or Doom because I do NOT do well at games like that. They're too quick for me. I like to think a little :)

How will Company of Heroes look on the 13" MBP? Today's integrated GPU's are probably better than the dedicated ones from 2006 right?

I still play Age of Empires 2 and never complain about the graphics.

I'd pick up a copy of Company of Heroes.

you have Age of Empires 2 for os x?? please tell me where i can purchase that. I have a Intel C2Duo 15" MBP, will it work on that? Thanks!!!!!!

Oh yea, I still play AoE 2 (For Mac) as well. It is around, just search... ;)

P.S. Of course it will run on your machine! :p

Rome: Total War Gold will be out any week now from Feral (Amazon is saying July 7). It's about the same vintage as AoE3, but it includes the expansion for $30.

no, only for windows, dl windows 7 and run it in bootcamp, its good until june of next year....

What's good? Download windows 7 demo you mean? I'm new to bootcamp. Do I download it from a MAC and then run it or download it, burn it to a disc and then install the OS by starting bootcamp

Will Windows 7 run ok on a base MBP 13? How about the games? WIll they run at a decent quality? I might even pick up Flight Simulator in that case if I can play PC games on a MAC.

Thanks. Since you play PC games on OSX would you mind walking me through this bootcamp thing? I log into the OSX side of the MBP and download the WIN7 demo on the MAC side? Will it run?

Then I start bootcamp and extract this demo?

You run the Boot Camp in OS X, using your Win7 DVD. I play AoE2 and 3 on the Mac side, but it runs much better on Windows. I also play other good Windows strategy games, such as Galactic Civilizations II, and Sins of a Solar Empire, both of which have no Mac version.

AoE II is a great game, I much prefer it over AoE III.

Yeah 4 years old already, and I still can't run it on full settings

Yup, same here. Prefer AoEII. And me and my poor tired GMA 950 on AoEIII. :(

Isn't it time for Age of Empires IV?

Unfortunately, the company went down, being integrated into M$. No more support, no nothing. And a mere pittance of a chance of any AoE IV ever.
