I have a Macbook Air ('12) running OS X Lion and I was trying to find a way to play Age of Mythology. I was able to torrent a .dmg of the original installer, but it's PowerPC so I can't install it. They released an update converting AOM to Universal Binary, but as far as I can tell you can only install the update if you already have the game installed. Any insight? Thanks.

Look for another installer. Or buy it from App Store. (Not sure if its there)

It's not, and MacSoft never updated the installer.

OP, do you have an older Mac? If not, ask for a friend's. Install it and then move it over to your laptop.

Good luck with getting your game to run. I'm a huge Blizzard fan and got totally screwed by Lion, when the loss of Rosetta basically killed Diablo II, Starcraft (I), and Warcraft III. Well, Warcraft III is in the same boat it sounds like you are in: Game was patched to universal binary, but installer is still PowerPC. Even so, the game launches but is unplayable because all the textures are black now.

Snow Leopard - Everything was working great.
Lion - Not so much.

I had a copy of Halo 1 from MacSoft, which ran awesomely on my iMac, until Lion killed it.

Tell us of your success with Age of Mythology, I'm curious to see how it goes for you.
