Recently I got my hands on an Agent 18 Eco Shield for the iPhone. The case is fantastic and corrects a lot of the problems that 1st generation cases introduced (ie. scratching, falling off, etc.). The only problem was the colors. The case only comes in Black and Natural (White). I didn't want the iPhone to look like an iPod Touch which is what would happen if I used Black. I ended up picking up a White one and painting it a Brushed Metal color with model paint (spray type). It took a while to track down paint that is an exact color match to the :apple: brushed metal look but in the end it was worth it. I am VERY VERY happy with the result....

nice work, what kind of paint did you use (make model, perhaps a link?) ?

I'd be concerned it might come off on the iPhone.

how the iphone should have looked, eh? i expect jonny ive won't feel threatened.

lol...I completely agree with you...While I'm happy for the OP for making the iPhone look "his" in all respects, I think that case (and now the phone) looks ugly. To each his own though man...But yea, that's definently not how it should have looked.

I used a Japanese brand of model paint but I am sure Testors paint (readily available at any hobby store) would also work fine. The paint won't come off onto the phone because I did not paint the inner side of the case. When I painted it, I had cardboard wedged into the case to simulate the iPhone being in the case.

I also have this case. It is my favorite case so far. Fits great, looks good, and protects the phone if it gets dropped.

hi
i have this case, and im going out to buy paint tomorrow... i had experience with painting faceplates and housings before, i was wondering if you needed to sand down the case before you painted it? and what type of paint specifically did u use for it to bond? is the case made of just plastic?

not very familiar with the case, but what material is it made out of?

did you use a type of plastic dye paint? The results look amazing, I'm just concerned about how it will hold up over a few months.

You should do a follow-up after some real world testing. Really enjoyed the pictures :)
