Hi Friendly Mac Folk,

Thanks for reading... I've got the following situation.

I have an old G4-400 Sawtooth PowerMac. Which i want to hook up to my TV. The current AGP card doens't support a TV-out (or video-out). So I figured i need a new card.

Can any of you recomend any card? I don't game, it's just to play some movie/tv/other stuff from the G4 on TV.

Any suggestions? Brand? Type? Price range?

Any help is ofcorse appriciated.

Which TV and/or port?

Some TVs support hooking up a computer directly to the Analog RGB port simply using a VGA cable.

A Philips TV

Nothing fancy... Just a scart in, so it has to be
- scart (that i believe a euro thingy)
- DIN (it looks like a PS2 cable, but it's often used from video cameras)
- a tulip like cable

So basically something like a powerbook has....

(hope it's a bit clear)

ATI

is about your only option...

AGP 9800's new $319, Ebay $225-$350
AGP 8500's EOL, Ebay $100-$175

PCI 7000 EOL, Ebay $60-$110
PCI 9200 not yet released, may never be.... $129

I think the Radeon 8500 would be the best deal. This card about 2 years old, now. It has VGA, DVI and TV-out, and is pretty fast.
The "newest" option would be the Radeon 9800 Pro Retail. Pretty expensive, and overkill for a G4 400 MHz. But it does work.
You could also try the Radeon AGP (original) or Radeon 7000 PCI (as a 2nd grfx card)
As you live in Holland: best to check out N&G Computers, or Condor Computers orso. They also have 2nd hand stuff.
