If you though dells computers were ugly, look at their new XPS 700 desktop. If you ask me, it looks like either a radiator, an air vent, or two small heaters placed on top of eachother, or some other part of an HVAC system.

It's a lot better than any other gaming PC i've seen. It actually looks designed, unlike the bulbous alienware PCs and the various DIY towers covered with LEDs, dragons, flames, etc.

I agree. Alienware's design team probably needs to get fired.

wtf is up with dell and btx?

the tower looks ok, but if i had to get an xps 700 i'd go for the black. less garish or something

you know, if that were silver aluminum and had an apple logo on the side the tone of this thread would be much different. That's actually not a bad looking case. Maybe the colours are a bit much, but the shape/form of it is rather nice.

I think the case is way to busy and that simpler is better when using high quality products. When I first saw it I honestly thought "air vent".

While the red lighting may be a bit much, it is anything but "too busy." Take away the lighting, make it in brushed aluminum and stick an apple logo on the side and it could be coming straight out of cupertino.

This, on the other hand...

While I dislike dell's lower-end offerings, their higher end stuff seems to be pretty nice. If I were going to spend more than $2,000 on a windows machine I would more likely go with falconNW/hypersonic/voodoo, but for what its worth, dell isn't total crap all the time. Our family's dell box only died once, when the HDD failed, and dell tech support paid for a new one and in-home installation the very next day. Granted, I know how to spyware-proof and virus-proof XP, which is more than most XP users can say, but that is a MS problem, not dell's.

This system is only bad for what most of you do. I think the system looks like a fantastic gaming system, especially when compared what else is out there. It's not too busy like some people have said. Change the colour scheme, replace the Dell logo with an Apple one, and you may even be fooled into liking it.

Actually, for a Dell, that "radiator" design is not too bad.

I notice a lot of its looks depends on the lighting. Wonder how it'd look in flat daylight?

I do think if Apple were doing that design, it'd be a lot more subtle.

its not a bad design, but the red is bad. and the 'vents' could be a bit better, but the actual housing is nice.

Now that is a cool computer. In 5 years when it is obsolete it will be even cooler.
