Aim App SMS notification

So im jailbroken on iphone 3gs 3.1.3 and i got the aim app (purple one) 4.1.0 and for some reason when i hit the home button and i get a im it doesnt get the sms notification until you go back on the aim app. my friend has this app on his itouch and it gets the sms notification but mine doesnt i've checked the setting>notification>aim and they are all on !! any help please
