Anyone try this? Does it work well for you? Is there a significant battery drain?

No, but my guess is it wouldn't be all too stable. Id suggest Beejive+Backgrounder. works pretty gravy.
 
Why wouldn't it work? I've used Fring pretty successfully. There have been a few times that it logged me out after awhile, but powering off/on my phone solved the problem. Beejive looks nice, but is just too expensive for the amount that I personally would use it.
