I currently have the D-Link DI 524 and was considering upgrading to an Airport Extreme Wireless N (non dual band).

Before you go "of course, stupid!" I will still have "G" networks on the devices. These include an iPod touch, iPhone and Playstation. Will the whole network be throttled down to G speeds, or will I still notice a significant boost to the wireless N base station?

what I did was run my second (and third) wireless network of the LAN on the AEW, that way I can have a N network and a G network.

If you try to use the non dual band it will downgrade it to G when the G devices are connected.

So if I connect the D-Link to my modem, and then attach the AEX via ethernet to the D-Link, it should work fine with both my N and G devices?
