Has anybody else noticed that safari sometimes doesn't recognize touches? Somewhere I notice this frequently is when doing a google search, and I am trying to select the link of the top search result. Sometimes I can press on it 10 times, and nothing happens. Sometimes I even have to slight scroll down the page before I can open the link.

Since this only occurs in safari and I am on my second ipad now (both were showing exact same behavior) I think it's a safari bug. Will probably try another browser to confirm, but just wanted to see if anybody else noticed this.

Yeah, I've noticed it. Have to scroll the page down to get it to touch sometimes. Haven't tried to see if the same thing happens on Chrome yet.

Same here. Can't seem to figure out how to wake it up yet.. Waiting, closing, scrolling? I try all of this and it eventually comes around. It's almost like it is stuck in scrolling mode and is not looking for a touch.

Are either of you using a screen protector by any chance?

I am using one on my second ipad, wasn't on the first one, didn't make a difference. It also happens under safari only, other apps are fine.

My wife gets the same on her iPad 4 and me also on my Air 2. Neither of us is using a screen protector so looks like a bug of some sort.

Get his at least 12 times per day... I just pinch zoom then double tap and it responds.

Hope this is fixed soon. It's annoying!

Same problem as OP here. If you scroll down and back up, the touch will register. Probably a software issue.

Yep, I have this issue as well. Hoping it's a software issue.

It is. Safari is a bonafide mess these days. They really have to:

1) Fix the reloads(and NO, RAM isnt the only answer to that)
2) get rid of the tab bar disappearing or at least you set that option
3) Better response & speed
4) Lots of other little nuisance items.

I've noticed this issue too. Updating mines to 8.1.1 and will see if its improved.

Been on 8.1.1 for the past 30 minutes and Safari seems to respond to all my touches so far. Not sure if placebo or what but seems like it's greatly improved.

I had this on my 6+.
Steps:
- only in Landscape
- tap link
- tap back
Further links are dead until I scroll the display a little.

The good news is, it's not happening now. I have 8.1.1 installed. I hope that's what fixed it because that means its a permanent fix.

GREAT call on #2 above Mikey... I agree 100%

I'm afraid I have to agree with this.

I, too, experience the lack of response to touch and I have many force closes.

Hopefully it will soon be fixed. I'm really sorry to say that this is the first experience where it hasn't "just worked" for me. The reloads are killing me. Every time I hit back in the browser I end up at the top of the newly reloaded page.

It looks like 8.1.1 has fixed the aforementioned issue for me at least. No more needing to scroll before it would open a link.
