Air and Thunderbolt display

Hello everyone,

I have 2012 Air and Thunderbolt display. If Air is connected to power source, when I close the lid view do not disappear from Display. But if Air is not connected to power source, closing lid turns of display. How to solve that?

Thanks a lot!
 
When connected to the Thunderbird Display the Air has to be connected to the power supply or it will not work.
