Air audio port

I plugged in my headphones into the air audio port but doesn't work and the sound continues to come out the speakers. But when u plug the headphones into my iPhone it seems to work fine :S. Please help!

one possible reason is the impedance used in the headphone is much higher than earbuds, hence the sensing of the headphone fails to mute the built-in speakers. not a defect, it's just that notebook headphone output is not really designed to drive cans.

i tried both headphones and earbuds, neither work
