I have Lion now on my MAcBook Pro and my Mac Pro.

I haven't got AirDrop showing in finder on either machine.

Do i have to enable something?

Air Drop does not work on older machines. It uses a peer to peer wifi protocol that requires specific chipset support.

AirDrop
supports the following Mac models:

MacBook Pro (Late 2008 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2010 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 or newer)
iMac (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac mini (Mid 2010 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2009 with AirPort Extreme card, or Mid 2010)

Airdrop works on my 2008 Macbook Pro, but not my 1,1 Mac Pro

I have a 3 year old mac book pro and 3 year old mac pro . Choked..

Thanks for this thread as I found the answer but Ggggrrrrrrrr I'm annoyed that my Early 2008 imac doesn't do it - I was really hoping this would help us out  as e have so many problems with drop box not allowing one or other to save an existing file!!

Mac Pro 1,1 Air Port Extreme Card Upgrade?

Would it be possible to upgrade the internal Air Port Extreme Card in my Mac 1,1 (2006) to a later version to be able to use AirDrop? If yes, what model number would this be?

My late 2008 MacBook Pro 4,1 15" doesn't work with AirDrop, or at least it isn't showing up...

I have everything else though, all sorts of gestures and autocorrects but no AirDrop... maybe I need to be in the range of anther Mac for it to show up?

I have a late 2008 MBP and I can see Airdrop in my finder window, even though there are no other Airdrop compatible Macs in range (there are other macs on the network - but my Mac Pro is too old to support Airdrop)
