Air i5 256 GB SSD configuration

I just discovered..
In Apple online store when shopping and configurating for the new Air:

If I choose the new mb Air with i5, then it's not possible to choose 256gb SSD.

But if I start with the i3, and change that to i5 then I can still choose 256gb SSD.

Try it yourself on Apple's web store.

Fault, clever Apple move or are there hidden differences?

No difference. Just how they set it up.

i5 is an upgrade to the base i3/8/256 stock model

256 isn’t an “upgrade” to the i5/8/512 stock model
