I'm getting my first mac soon, and I'll be using it for standard university use, garageband music production, minor video editing and some small gaming, not anything graphically demanding. Could someone recommend a mac with whichever upgrades would be needed? Thanks.

Really depends on your tolerance for longer rendering times and lowering frame rates in games.

Everything is bumped up on the pro so if you require less patience and/or smoother gameplay then go with the Pro.

things to consider

How much money are you willing/allowed to spend? College is expensive by itself and adding an additional 2K off the bat is not really the biggest cost but it adds up.

How long do you think youll be using this computer? Pretty much self explanatory.

What youll be using it for. You said gaming/video editing I'll go with the pro more power and more workspace (unless you have plans on buying a external monitor for your dorm)

but at the end of the day its still your decision to make. Good luck!
