Any videos on how family sharing works with air tags?
I’m asking cause if I add members to my family plan will they be able to see my
Phone and my tag location? Or I can choose what device locations they can see?

I want to add my parents so that If they dog sit they aren’t notified that a device is tracking them and the air tag doesn’t chirp..

Is there any other way to not have a device make noise when with someone else or when you share something with family that had a tag.

yes... you can mute the alert for family (including indefinitely) and for others a day at a time. there is NO way to EVER allow someone else's device to show the location of a tracker that belongs to your apple ID however, including your family. you can't ever have your wife's iphone show the location of car keys with an airtag on them that belongs to you unfortunately, just block it from alerting her iphone if she uses those keys.

Ah só it doesn’t allow them to see the location of my tracker just doesn’t have them get that chirp or alert in their phone saying they being tracked.

What if they are part of another family share. I tried to add someone but it says they can’t cause they are already in another family share.

i think there is a way they can disable the alert that they are being tracked one day at a time for a tracker when they borrow one of your trackers, but because you aren't in the same family share group they can't make it forever, just a day at a time.

i for example will have my car keys tagged. should my wife borrow those keys she will never get an alert she is being tracked (you have to tell it that the first time, then it is forever since she is in my family group) but should she lose the keys she would have to call me to have me track it with my ios devices, she couldn't use her phone to see the keys. stupid if you ask me, there should be a way we can tell it that the airtag belong to the entire family.

yea there should be a way to share the tracker with someone. that way they don't get alerted being tracked cause you "the owner" allowed it.

I think they can disable one day at a time if they aren't in the family share group, but after 3 days its going to start chirping.

Surprised that apple didn’t include a share option at least with official family share members. Tile used to allow me to share “items”

For example me and the wife both have our own cars But we swap at random. She’s always losing hers in the house and now I won’t be able to find them, only she can.
Hope they add this feature

Just got 4 AirTags today. Does not appear that you can see other family member’s items at this time. However, there also appears to be a slight bug that has thus far not affected functionality. I registered an AirTag for my son first on his iPhone. While his AppleID email was correct it showed my Phone Number for my iPhone. When I registered an AirTag for myself on my iPhone it showed my correct Apple ID email but my son’s iPhone number. This does not seem to affect viewing the item for each of us on our iPhones. It’s almost like when registering it is pulling the incorrect phone numbers for the iCloud accounts from the Family Hdaring DB on the iCloud backend. Further, I tested marking an AirTag as lost and it prompts for the phone number to be used for contacting the owner for the person who finds it - so the incorrectly associated number does not seem to impact that aspect.

So now that this has been out a while

if you have family member in family share plan. The tag won’t chirp but they may get notified on their phone? Or neither?

also as soon as I add them to family share can I mute them from being notified of air tags?
I haven’t seen any YouTube videos of this.
