I added someone to family sharing. What setting do I need off so they aren’t alerted and the tag doesn’t go off when it is with them?

Yep, that's on everyone's wish list (along with Apple Watch support). Your options are to either turn off notifications for that item, once they finally show up (they'll get the option to pause alerts for that item, or turn them off indefinitely).

Or, you can turn safety alerts off for that individual entirely:

Heh...does kinda sound like you're stalking them though.

I have a tag on my dog and mt parents are dog sitting.

so if I turn off safety alerts they also won’t get the alerts? Or when they get the alert on their phone they can turn off the alerts?

Seems like family sharing/tracking of tags is something that may eventually come. But it is also definitely part of the overall product design. It is not meant to be used to track anything other than personal items that are with you at all times, which is why it links to one person, why it beeps incessantly if you are out of range for long periods.

If you're actually tracking things that are on you, it is hard to make an argument as to why someone else needs to be able to do that.

This is exactly what air tags are NOT meant for, so you're going to swimming upstream constantly against the product.

The tag is still going to chirp if it's out of reach from the owner's phone after 3 days (when it's moved).
I swore I read that family members in same house would not have it chirp if they are in a family plan.

But guess not.

Okay so I don’t get it. Wasn’t there instructions that having a family plan would make sure the tag didn’t sound with family using it.

Nope. There's been no changes to Family Sharing for AirTags. (there's more than a few mentions from people in these forums about how we need this).

Not sure if it'll be added to iOS 15 or in a 15.1 release. I'd expect it to be soonish.

So what does having family sharing with tags even benefit?

People said the family plan helped avoid something with using air

Heh. How many times do you have to be told that there isn't any (yet)?
I get what you are saying, but their was definitely a pro to having a family plan and air tags. not sure if it was to stop alerts on iPhone or pinging of the device, but it was mentioned multiple times that people needed to have a family plan to avoid some sort of alert... I KNOW its not full proof of course.
