This is more like in the Mac "Preipherlas" forum, but here goes.
Did you know there is a app on Google Play that actually lets you turn your old Android device into a AirPlay sound reciever?. Airbubble. Pretty sweet stuff, the only thing is that I don't know if it's supported on Mountain Lion.
I had some old pc speakers that I though I should set up in my bathroom so I could listen to the radio in the morning. This works fine from my iPhone and iPad (iOS 5), but not form any of the Macs running Mountain Lion. .
Does anybody know if they changed something with the AirPlay protocol from Lion / iOS 5 to Mountain Lion? All my iDevices can see the Apple TV 3 that's in my living room.
Any experiences with this application would be nice, or just some thoughts of what the error could be. The technology or what not.
I thought about 5GHz vs 2.4GHz network, but my iPhone is using 2.4 just as the Andorid phone. I know the AirPlay is using ports: 80, 443, 554 (real time streaming protocol), 3689 (digital audio access protocol) and 5353 (multicast DNS). But I'm not sure how to check the connection between the Android AirBubble and my MBA. Telnet on the ports above doesn't seem to work, but ping does.
