AirDrop -requires wireless 'N' or specific hardware?

Hi Chaps,

I have Lion installed on two machines now, a 2008 17" MBP and a Unibody 13" MBP.

AirDrop only shows up on the 13" which I believe has a wireless N capable wireless card, whilst the 17" doesn't and doesn't seem to have the ability to use AirDrop.

This is the only difference I can see between the two apart from the obvious hardware differences, I haven't been able to find any hardware requirements for this.

Can anyone else offer their experience?

Edit: hes just shouted downstairs to me and told me infact his does use N. Why would his be unable to use this then?
