iPhone 6(S)/Plus Airplane Mode issue

While my iPhone is in airplane mode, it is still receiving emails. In the past, airplane mode blocked emails. I checked to make sure all antennas were de-selected (OFF). But still received emails?!?! Anyone else have this issue? Still rocking a 6s Plus in 2019, yeah me!

Sorry to ask the obvious, is WiFi on? Did you turn the selector on-off-on-off? I know you said you did, but airplane mode means cell shutdown. Unless it’s a software issue and maybe do a reset.

WiFi was OFF when this occurred. Annoying to say the least.

When in Airplane mode there should be no connection. To verify, download a network logging app to see if it really disconnects.
