Airplane Mode Messages

One thing I hate about iOS 5 is that it pops up "You must disable Airplane Mode to send or receive messages" alert whenever I go into Messages when in Airplane Mode. It is very annoying and is not even completely true as I can send iMessages that fall under the definition of messages.

Can anyone with access to iOS 6 check if the same alert exists please?

Because technically you can't receive some messages, I guess.

You're right. However, you can still receive iMessages which I would have expected Apple to give priority to.
