I have a Philips Hue light strip behind my tv that I use for bias lighting. What I wish for is a native sync app on the Apple TV but right now that's not a reality. So I downloaded the Hue Sync app on my iMac (10.13.6). What I planned to do is AirPlay content I have on a NAS from my iMac to the Apple TV that has the Hue light strip. It doesn't work. If I play a video ON my iMac and use the Hue Sync app the lights on the tv respond as they should. Works great actually but the second I AirPlay the Hue Sync app stops. I was under the impression that it should work. Not sure if I'm missing a step or two. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yep. Just found that. I was using QuickTime to play the video and using the AirPay from the on screen controls. Once I selected mirroring from the Menu Bar I was good to go. Thanks!

I too wish there was a native app through the Apple TV for this. I also wish there was a mobile app for the music syncing from my phone. It's a pain to break out the Mac every time I want to play around with it.

Yeah I'm not really worried too much about the PQ. Just having some fun with it.
