I've got an AirPlay receiver (bought it here) in the car. It hosts a wifi network with no Internet connection, and iPhones can join and play music to the car speakers. The problem is that the iPhone doesn't know to fall back to 4G for Internet, so it keeps trying to use the wifi and can't load anything or receive any messages. That's not usable.
To fix that, I followed this answer, manually setting my network settings for that wifi network so that the router is 0.0.0.0. Now, my iPhone does connect to the Internet using 4G while it's on the wifi network. I still see the AirPlay receiver as an option. I can select it. But once I try to play music, it gets stuck for about 10 seconds then disconnects from the AirPlay receiver (but stays on the wifi)! Looks like a bug in iOS. Any workarounds?
P.S. No, I don't look at my iPhone while driving.
