Ok got a 2009 Mac Pro and a new Mac mini hooked upto speakers plus got a few airplay speakers around the house

Now I've no problem streaming to all the devices at once using iTunes but not from Spotify?

Anyone know a way around this?

Cheers

John

Actually you can--not as easy as it could be but that is because of the one-device limitation of IOS devices. But this app allows you to control your Mac from your phone or iPad. Airfoil is a great product--have used it for years.

So I could control spotify from that app on my iPhone?

Yes--but not directly--you can use the app on your iPhone to control spotify through Airfoil on your Mac. There is just no way to Airplay to more than one device from and IOS device--you can only do that on your Mac.

You can use the remote app ($5 on app store ) to start/stop and skip songs.... You cannot use it to switch stations, etc.... Still very useful. I've been using it all weekend.

I just got the Airfoil app for my wife's and my Macs and also the Airfoil Remote app for my iPhone. Now we can stream whatever we want to our Apple TV or Airport Express and I can control volume and pause/play/skip (depending on the source app) from my phone. Plus, I can switch between controlling my Airfoil app or hers from my phone as well. I'm liking it — added Airfoil to my login items.

Be aware that you can use Airfoil Speakers on the Mac to turn it into an Airplay receiver. You can then pull that signal using the normal Airfoil app and send it to any of your Airplay devices. You just use Spotify or any app on the iPhone, send the signal to Airfoil Speakers on the Mac, and send that signal out via Airfoil. You can use AF Remote on the iPhone to determine which Airplay devices get the signal or make that selection from the Mac. I describe the option here.

When Spotify Connect comes out for Mac, you can just control Spotify on the computer via the Spotify app on your iPhone and use Airfoil to select Airplay devices. RDio already has this feature.
