AirPlay icon displays on iMac but apple tv isn't working

Purchased ML OS for the purpose of mirroring. After downloading and installing, the airplay icon pops up on my iMac but it's not detecting my apple tv!!! Wtf!!
Is it because my apple tv is jail broken?

What model iMac do you have? If it's compatible, it may be the jailbroken issue.
