Airplay Mirroring, but retain local audio

I am using an iPad 4 and Apple TV3 to mirror the screen. I am running a medical vitals simulator app, so I still want the iPad to emit audio. However, when I set it to mirror, it stops playing audio from the iPad.

Is there a setting I can change to maintain audio at the iPad? I'm streaming to a monitor, so there's no issue of audio sync between the two displays.
