Hey all. I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'm sick of searching the internet and finding nothing, so if I can't find an answer here, then I'm done. I didn't realize the iPad 1 doesn't support airplay mirroring prior to buying an apple TV, and now I've jailbroken and I'm desperately seeking some way to do this.

It's a non-jailbroken apple TV 2 with the newest updates, and an iPad 1 with iOS 5.1 and a tethered jailbrake using redsn0w.

I've been to several websites with instructions that claim to work, but every time I pop open airplay, the "enable mirroring" switch is nowhere to be found. Is there an app through Cydia I can get, or can I alter the iPad through root commands? I'm also willing to jailbrake the apple tv if I need to. I'm open to any and all suggestions. Just please tell me there's some way to do this, since this is pretty much the entire reason I bought an apple tv.

The iPad 1 may not be powerful enough to mirror the screen via AirPlay. If it is, I've never seen it done.

I read that airplay is only compatible with the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S. I thought i worked with the iPhone 4 but not sure. I don't think the iPad 1 has enough oomph.

After looking around some more, not enough oomph seems to be the general consensus. I'm making do with simply being able to display my screen using component cables. Thanks anyway guys.

Yes that's exactly it, it would probably just melt trying to do it. iPad 1 to iPad 2 was a massive performance boost, not to mention it's another marketing technique to convince people to upgrade

Airplay mirroring works on the iPad 1. This is technically though. You have to edit a plist after JB and then you can airplay mirror. It's pretty cool but slightly slow.

And what would the magic key be? I've added all sorts of keys to my iPad 1 and have yet to get Airplay mirroring to work.

AirPlay for iPad 1

No way. When I turned off my iPad and double clicked the home button,it came up with an airplay button next to the volume bar.I'm not sure how to get it back though because now when I try again it's not there.

It'll Airplay videos and audio, but it will not do Airplay Mirroring.
