AirPlay mirroring

On my iPhone 4 I would use apps like vevo and YouTube to play videos on my Apple TV.

When I try it now on my iPhone 5 and iOS 6 it says I have to enable airplay mirroring which puts the entire phone on the TV screen. I don't want that! I just want the apps with video to play full screen like they uses to. Any ideas??
 
Update: it's just with YouTube that won't seem to AirPlay the video like before. It must be the new app. Vevo still plays like it always did.
