Hi everyone.. I’ve been trying to figure it out for the longest time.. if someone could give me a hint I would really appreciate it.

I have in the living room an Apple TV and a HomePod.
They are set up under “living room” in the home app and they are called Apple TV and HomePod. Simple.

when I wanna stream from my Mac I can see only the room’s name and not the device so I have to guess which is which. See screenshot so it’s clearer..
How can I see the device name instead of its location??

thank you!!

If you've got the default name, it just shows as the room on the network
Rename is as "Living Room HomePod" in the home app. and I use "Living Room aTV"

in the home app it'll strip off the room name if it matches, so it will just show "HomePod" or "aTV", but on the network it will show the full names "Living Room HomePod"

I’ll try thanks! But they must have changed this with an update because I tried it long ago and it still wasn’t showing up correctly. I remember having the devices called living room HomePod and living room Apple TV and they were showing as living room living room HomePod and living room living room Apple TV. On the Mac because the names were too long I still couldn’t see which was which.

thanks anyways! I will give it a go again!
