Is it possible to use AirPlay to mirror or extend my MacBook screen onto my Mini screen which is connected to my 55" TV?

Primarily want to use it when coding as small screen on laptop is restrictive.

Both are running High Sierra and on same network, and both are AirPlay compatible, just not aware if you can go from device to device.

My alternative is to buy an Apple TV to do the job, but that is money I'd rather not spend it the Mini can be used.

Thanks

How do you interact with the Mini normally? If the Mini has its own keyboard and mouse, use the Mini to connect to screen sharing on the other Mac.

I already use the Mini with a wireless keyboard/mouse, but I wanted to use it as a second screen so I could use my laptop screen for one thing and the TV as an extended monitor.

Ah, the extended monitor portion wasn't clear in the first post...
