AirPlay target resets

Hi all,

I want to use an older ipod touch or possibly an ipad mini as a music player which plays to my airplay speakers.

What i am finding frustrating is that every time i come to the ipad after it's been idle for a while, it's changed back to it's internal speakers for the audio output and I then have to re-select the speakers in the airplay part of control centre.

is there any way to stop it disconnecting so it's more convenient?
