I have an AppleTV (4th gen) setup with a projector. Because of not wanting to run cables, I also have an Airport Express plugged into some speakers on the other side of the room. When playing videos on the AppleTV, it can successfully output sound to the Airport Express using AirPlay, although I don't get user interface sounds.

Now - when I use Airplay to send a video from my MacBook to the AppleTV, I get no sound, even though in the settings on the AppleTV, I've set the Airport Express as the output device.

QUESTION: If I get Bluetooth Speakers and set them as the output device for the AppleTV, will AirPlay from the MacBook output video AND sound to the AppleTV+ Bluetooth speakers?

Thanks!

Hi, what you’re doing is correct, but sometimes I find the video I’m airplaying has audio recorded in a different incompatible format, so maybe that. I have to totally recommend AirVideo HD Appletv app, you basically buy that for a couple of dollars then install their free “server” app to you computer which always runs in the background, then you can open the airvideo app on your Appletv and play any video from where ever you’d like from your mac. Beats streaming video which doesn’t seem to play nearly as nice over airplay as it does this way.
