Hey guys. Is it possible to airplay things from an external that has my iTunes library on it? my macbook is staring to fill up and I'd like to move my library finally to an external. Airplay for the kid's movies is crucial! thx

If you want to use iTunes, you still need the computer in the mix, but you can put the music files on an external drive or NAS and still use Airplay.

Yup

Yep, just uncheck "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library" and then drag files from your external drive into iTunes.

Yes, this means you'll still need your computer on and iTunes running for AppleTV to recognize the files.

You could also just move the entire iTunes media folder to an external and operate like normal, but I find the first solution to work better.
