AirPlay is used to send audio or video to a device that can receive it. Usually an Apple TV, or a stereo with AirPlay functionality.

Some content and files can be moved using airdrop not usually between phones or from a phone or Mac to another Mac, this option is only available in some apps but is good for transferring photos etc.
