Airpod fails to disconnect whilst in case

Hey
my left Airpods fails to disconnect whilst its in the case, I've tried to reset-repair.
it still keeps the connection.
I have to go into the bluetooth settings on my iphone and select disconnect.
connecting is no issue.

I'm on ios11 beta 9.
any thoughts?

It very well Could be a glitch with the beta. I never have heard of this happening until now for those using iOS 10.
